Sivelov, Niklas (1968-)
Description:
Swedish pianist and composer Niklas Sievelev (1968-) began studying the organ at the age of six, and his talent soon became known throughout the Scandinavian peninsula. He made his debut as soloist in 1991 with Bartók's Piano Concerto No. 2, and since then, while continuing his studies, Sievelev has embarked on a spectacular career as a performer, winning numerous awards and actively recording a variety of works from Bach to contemporary music and jazz. This album features his three piano concertos. The "Ancient Concerto," his first orchestral work, with its bright syncopated rhythms; the "Piano Concerto No. 2," written using the twelve-tone technique and reminiscent of Bartók and Prokofiev; and the "Piano Concerto No. 5," written in 2019 as a commemoration of being awarded the "Order of Knight of Dannebrot" a few years ago. Piano Concerto No. 5, written in 2019 to commemorate the awarding of the "Knight of the Order of Dannebro" a few years ago. All of these works were written with a keen sense of perception and a high level of technical skill that only a master pianist of his caliber could have written. Naxos Japan
