Bartoli, Cecilia
Description:
A collection of sonatas for mandolin and bassoon by Giovanni Battista Gervasio, an 18th century Neapolitan musician who studied and improved the mandolin and spread the instrument throughout Europe. This unique Tactus recording of all of Gervasio's surviving sonatas appears separately in two different performances on baroque mandolin. One is an ensemble formation of mandolin, archlute & theorbo & baroque guitar, clavicembalo & organ, cello, and violone, and the other is a duo formation of mandolin and harpsichord, so you can enjoy the same piece in different sounds.
