Apistogramma cacatuoides 'Mega Orange' is a highly sought-after, selectively bred variation of the popular Cockatoo Dwarf Cichlid. Males of the 'Mega Orange' strain boast an intense, vivid orange that saturates their entire dorsal fin and caudal (tail) fin, often extending onto the anal fin and even 'bleeding' into the body. This is set against a striking blue-violet sheen on the body with a signature horizontal black stripe. Females are usually more dull in coloration.

Males reach an adult size of about 3 inches and females tend to be a little smaller. Making them ideal for a smaller aquariums, we recommend at least 10 gallons for a breeding pair.

To replicate their native habitat, we recommend a sandy substrate and ample hiding spots like plants, caves and drift wood.
