Master of Baroque Flute, Carlo Ipata! Vivaldi's Flute Concertos! Master flutist Carlo Ipata leads the Ausel Musici in this collection of Vivaldi's flute concertos! Carlo Ippata is a baroque flute virtuoso who studied baroque flute and chamber music at the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity (Canada), the Royal Conservatory of The Hague, and the Conservatoire National de Paris, and continues to devote himself to the study and performance of ancient music. In 1997, he founded Ausel Musici, an ancient music ensemble selected from the best musicians in Italy and Europe, to explore the vast unpublished theatrical and instrumental repertoire of the Renaissance and Baroque eras. With selections based on historical research, the ensemble has produced modern premieres of operas such as Antonio Cesti's "Love's Misfortune," Francesco Gasparini's "Bayazetto," Handel's "Catone," and Antonio Melani's "Unbelieving Punishment," among many others. As a soloist, Carlo Ipata's new solo recording for Hyperion, "Neapolitan Flute Concertos Vol. 1" (CDA67784), was named "Editor's Choice" by Gramophone magazine in the UK, and his long-awaited Vivaldi! Vivaldi's Flute Concertos, Op.10, published in 1729 by Le Seine, Amsterdam, under the title "Six Concertos for Flauto Traverso, 1st Violin, 2nd Violin, Alto Viola, Organ and Cello".Five of the six pieces were reconstructed from previous works (works for recorder and bassoon, chamber music, etc.), and the many printing inconsistencies and errors indicate that they were probably not revised by the composer himself and published in a hurry.
